China and United Arab Emirates have a mutual visa exemption agreement for ordinary passports in force since 16 January 2018. Unlike China's one-sided visa-free list, an agreement has no end date, though either side can suspend it.
What to have ready at the border
- An ordinary passport valid for your whole stay. Your airline may apply stricter validity checks.
- A return or onward ticket and your hotel bookings. You may be asked about your plans.
- The arrival card. Since November 2025 you can fill it in online before you land.
What it does not cover
- Mutual exemption agreements are for short visits. Work, study and journalism need a visa.
- If you plan to stay longer than the limit above, apply for a visa before you travel.
